RAWALPINDI: Two persons were shot and injured during a robbery in Sadiqabad on Friday.

Sardar Talat Rashid Khan, 26, a resident of Sadiqabad, lodged an FIR with the police saying that he and his two brothers had set up a ‘naan’ shop in the area.

On Friday, they had hardly started their business when four unidentified persons entered the shop and held them hostage.

He said two of the robbers remained on guard at the door while their two accomplices snatched Rs40,000 from his brother after threatening to kill them.

However, when they offered resistance, the robbers opened fire, injuring his brothers, Rahat and Azmat.

The robbers made off with the cash. On hearing the gunshots, people from the surrounding areas reached the spot and called the police.

In another incident, a suspected robber was injured due to firing of his accomplices when the police signaled them to stop in the Airport police area on Friday.

According to the police, the incident occurred when motorcyclists were signaled to stop, however instead the suspects opened fire on the officials. As a result, one of the suspected robbers was injured and later arrested.

The injured was identified as Taimur. Police said the gang was involved in injuring a police constable a few days ago.
