HYDERABAD, March 15: A central leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) demanded on Wednesday abolition of National Accountability Bureau which, he said, had become irrelevant and a useless burden on national exchequer.
Senior vice-president Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan and a central MMA leader Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair said in a statement NAB gave up inquiry it had undertaken itself into the sugar crisis simply because it involved several government people.
He said it had now become abundantly clear that the NAB’s only function was to harass opposition leaders and compel them to change their loyalties.
He called it a gross injustice that the people at the helm of affairs, who fleeced masses by artificially shooting up sugar prices got away with their crime.
The MMA leader, who is also member National Assembly, said he had raised the issue in the standing committee, and demanded the NAB should be wound up as it was causing more harm to the nation.
