QUETTA: National Democratic Movement (NDM) leaders Mohsin Dawar and Afrasiab Khattak have said the February 8 general polls were the “worst elections” where the mandate of people was “trampled upon”.

They expressed these views in a meeting with the former Balochistan chief minister, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, on Friday.

The NDM leaders expressed condolences over the demise of the former CM’s elder brother and prayed for the departed soul.

While discussing the existing political situation, the NDM leaders cautioned that “mandate theft” would further deteriorate the existing crises.

Unity among political forces urged

They lamented that leaders of major political parties have compromised against the interests of people and oppressed classes.

The two leaders called for the restoration of democracy, strengthening of parliament and good governance and stressed the need for national and political forces to unite for transparent elections.

The political forces should unite to resist interference in the electoral process and for the functioning of national institutions.

The NDM leaders and Mr Baloch agreed to strengthen communication between their political parties and continue political dialogue and consultation.
