KARACHI: Uniformity in education

Published March 16, 2006

KARACHI, March 15: The Islami Jamiat Talaba on Wednesday said it was in favour of a uniform education system across the country but warned it would not tolerate changes in the Islamiat curricula at any cost.

The IJT’s markazi majlis-i-shura in resolution adopted at its meeting held on Wednesday under chairmanship of the IJT’s Nazim-i-Aala, Nasrullah Goraya, expressed grave concerns over President Musharraf’s recent announcement to “purge” Islamiat and Pak Studies curricula from extremism.

The resolution said it was injustice to deny the fact that our education system had got outdated and bringing reforms in it was a need of the hour. But in perspective of the present circumstances, targeting Islamiat and Pak Studies for reforms manifested the mala fide intentions of the rulers, it added.—PPI
