DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police have launched a crackdown on vehicles with tinted glass, fancy number plates and modified silencers.

A police spokesman said the crackdown was launched in line with the directives of district police officer Nasir Mehmood to ensure road safety and curb illegal activities.

The police have also displayed banners to educate people about the road safety measures by complying with traffic rules.

The police officials checked vehicles and fined the violators of traffic laws.

The citizens were urged to refrain from indulging in illegal alterations to their vehicles.

FLOWER EXHIBITION: The cantonment board organised a flower exhibition here the other day. Dera station commander Brigadier Aamir Hayat was the chief guest, while cantonment’s chief executive officer Waqar Ahmed was also present.

The station commander said flowers gave a message of love and peace in the society besides beautifying the environment.

He lauded the environment-friendly initiative of the cantonment board, saying the flowers exhibition would surely increase the beauty of the area.

ENROLMENT DRIVE: A ceremony was held at a government primary school here the other day in connection with the ongoing school enrolment campaign.

DSP city circle Hafiz Mohammad Adnan was the chief guest.

On the occasion, he said promotion of education was a must for the country’s development.

“The future of the country is linked with the young generation and parents should enroll their children in government schools,” he said.

Students were carrying different placards inscribed with slogans highlighting the importance of education.

They also presented tableaus and delivered speeches on different topics.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed SP city Tayyib Jan has said that protection of the lives and property of people would be ensured on priority basis.

He stated this during meetings with sub-divisional police officers.

The SP directed the SDPOs to launch a crackdown on drug dealers and other criminal elements.

He asked SHOs and other staffers of the police stations to deal with the visitors politely and take all possible steps for resolving their issues.
