KARACHI: Assailants gunned down two friends in Bilal Colony within the remit of the Korangi Industrial Area police station in the wee hours of Monday morning, police said.

The police identified the victims as Muhammad Ali Khoso, 32, and Muhammad Imtiaz Khattak, 36, and said that both the friends were mechanic by profession.

They said that armed assailants riding on motorbikes targeted the two friends late on Sunday night and rode away. The wounded were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

On Monday, Gulbahar Khoso, father of victim Ali Khoso, lodged an FIR under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against a dismissed policeman and his accomplices — Sultan, Nadir and Noman — and said that they were running a criminal gang in the area.

Talking to the media, the grief-stricken father said that suspect Danish was the ringleader of the gang. He said he was dismissed from police service but still “leading a special police party”.

He alleged that Danish and his accomplices were also involved in robberies and other crimes.

In the FIR, the complainant stated that he was present at Murtaza Chowk in Bilal Colony when he heard gunshots. He rushed to the spot and saw that five armed men were fleeing the scene on their motorbikes after attacking his son and his friend.
