DISHONEST TEACHERS: I am a junior elementary school teacher in Larkana, and I say this regret that I have seen hundreds of senior teachers earning very high sal- aries without actually teaching anything worthwhile to their students. They force the students to copy-paste various texts in their notebooks so that whenever there is some sort of ‘inspection’, there should be a façade of academic progress to keep the higher-ups satisfied. At the end of annual session, these teachers pat each other on the back, and together feel proud of having contributed to the nation’s progress. Prog- ress? This is what I keep wondering about.

CRISIS IN CHITRAL: Many homes and roads have been destroyed in Chitral due to continuous rain. Frequent landsli- dings have made things worse. It had happened last year as well, and people hoped that the administration would be in a better position to handle the situation this year. Although the local administration and emergency agencies tried their best to facilitate the affected people, their efforts fell way short. The lack of attention from provincial and central governments is lamentable. Chitral has become more vulnerable to climate change over the last few years. The relevant departments should pay attention to the concerns of the people of Chitral.

BANK IN HOSHAB: Hoshab, a vital sub-tehsil in Kech district, is in desperate need of banking facility. The locals endure significant hardship as they have to travel some 80km to Turbat for basic banking services. The relevant authorities must prioritise addressing this issue.

HISTORICAL FORT: The historical fort in Turbat, also known as Punnu Fort, is suffering from lack of official attention even though the preservation of such an important heritage should be a matter of priority. The government must preserve this historical site.
