UNFORTUNATELY, the government in Sindh has not developed a tourism-friendly atmosphere even though the province has great potential. Al-Manzar, located along the bank of River Indus in Jamshoro, is said to be one of the most captivating tourist attractions of the province. Recently, I visited the site while crossing from Jamshoro due to rainy weather, which actually became a blessing in disguise. The place, say, was simply picturesque and eye-catching.

When I arrived there, I witnessed hordes of people enjoying the weather and boating in a pond-like River Indus. Surprisingly, I could not see any proper development by the government for promoting or at least facilitating tourism at such a great scenic spot.

There was even no road beside the barrage alongside the river, and hundreds of vehicles had to move on a muddy road with no barricades or safety measures. This could be fatal. There was no parking facility or a public resort at the spot.

The relevant department should devise a plan for the beautification of the site, making the place tourist-friendly. The government should create opportuni-ties for public-private partnerships at this as well as other such wonderful spots.
