NAROWAL: A woman allegedly staged a drama of kidnapping of her own minor son to implicate her relatives in the case and humiliate them, say Naorwal Saddar police.

The police have safely recovered the 10-year-old child who had gone missing two days ago.

As per police, Shehbaz, a resident of Jonda Panwan village of Narowal tehsil, lodged a complaint on April 27 that his 10-year-old nephew Zubair has been kidnapped by some unknown persons. He said the child had gone out to play in the street and did not return home.

Taking notice of the incident,District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Naveed Malik formed teams led by Sadar circle DSP Sheikh Ilyas to trace the kidnappers and recover the boy.

Naduke police registered an FIR of the incident.

The police led by the DSP Ilyas conducted house-to-house search in the village, while announcements were made through the mosques seeking information about the boy, but to no avail.

Finally, using human intelligence and modern technology, the police recovered the child in a raid on the clinic of a doctor, Muhammad Shahid, two days after his kidnapping, arresting the medic.

The police handed over the boy to his father, Rafiq.

The DSP says that initial investigation revealed that the child’s mother, Rehana Bibi, had allegedly staged the drama of her son’s kidnap, with the help of Dr Shahid to humiliate her relatives by implicating them in the case. He says the suspect has gone in hiding and would be arrested soon,

The DPO has announced cash reward and certificates of appreciation to the police teams for safely recovering the boy and tracing the kidnappers.
