SAHIWAL, Feb 3: The Grain Market police claimed to have arrested the mother of the youth who shot dead a trader and injured his brother on Dec 31.
DSP Tilla Muhammad told newsmen on Sunday that the killer’s accomplice was also arrested.
He quoted Rashida as saying her brother had slapped her before son Asif. She said her son vowed to take revenge from uncle Ghulam Nabi, adding he and his accomplices, Imran, Faisal and others, visited his house and opened indiscriminate firing on them. Nabi’s younger brother Ibrahim died instantly while he sustained injuries, she added.
Imran was arrested while Asif and others were still at large, the SSP said.
The police claimed the gang was involved in incidents of highway robberies and had driven away with eight cars on different occasions.

Reports reaching here revealed three dacoits barged into Saghir Anjum’s house in Farid Town’s B-block, held up the visitors, including government official Ismatullah and his two nephews, and took cash and ornaments worth Rs350,000 from the owner. They locked the inmates in a room and drove away with visitor’s car (LSR-7113).
The intruders also tied watchmen Khan Baba and Qazi Razzaq and driver Irshad.
The Farid Town police later claimed to have recovered the vehicle from the lorry adda. The culprits are still at large.
