KARACHI: Turkey’s reported recognition of the so-called Jewish State of Israel has caused deep resentment among the Muslims of Pakistan, Chaudhri Khaliquzzaman, President of the Pakistan Muslim League said on Saturday [April 2]. Briefly commenting on the news the League President said: “I am surprised to learn that Turkey has recognised the so-called State of Israel. The news has caused deep resentment among the Muslim[s] of Pakistan”. Turkey is the First Muslim State to officially recognise “Israel”.

[Meanwhile, according to reports from New Delhi,] ... the Inter-Dominion Conference between Pakistan and India, which opened here today [April 2], agreed to drop further consideration of matters relating to the Pakistan Government’s requirements of surplus stores and the shipment of all German reparation plant lying in Bombay. An official announcement … revealed that the 12 items referred to official committees included the division of museum exhibits, survey of India stores; the question of wireless frequencies; the regulation governing Inter-Dominion railway traffic and Pakistan’s share of civil aviation assets.
