LAHORE, March 9: Fine performance by Sumaira Tayyaba and Beenish Amin enabled Punjab University (PU) to make a clean sweep and win the Inter-varsity women athletics championship with a record tally of 237 points.

Sumaira and Beenish were declared best and second best athletes with 34 and 30 points.

PU won all 17 events held in the two-day championship. Lahore College University (LCU) got runners-up place with 83 points while Karachi University (KU) remained third with 55 points.

Government College, University, Faisalabad, bagged 39 points while B. Z. University, Multan, 20 points and came fourth and fifth.

3000m: Kausar Batool (PU) 13min 4.32 sec; Hina Kanwal (PU); Sameena (GCUF).

400m hurdles: Sumaira Tayyaba (PU) one min 14.54 sec; Imrana Nasir (PU); Ayesha Nazir (LCU).

Discus throw: Iffat Bano (PU) 29.31 m; Nazish Saqib (GCUF); Bushra Rehman (PU).

4x100m relay: PU, 57.68sec; LCU; KU.

Triple jump: Sehrish Nawaz (PU) 9.03metre; Saba Yaqoob (PU); Huma Tariq (LCU).

1500m: Fakhra Parveen (PU) five min 54.84 sec; Ansa Shamim (PU); Sameena (GCUF).

200m: Beenish Amin (PU) 27.22sec; Amna Khalid (PU); Nosheen (KU).
