OKARA: A revenue department patwari, along with two others, has been booked for alleged misappropriation of the Nigheban Ramazan package ration bags.

As per the FIR, on Tuesday night the Okara deputy commisioner( DC) received a tip-off that 45/GD circle Patwari Muhammad Ali and his two accomplices, Arshad and Rao Imran, were loading 100 bags of the Punjab government’s scheme meant for the deserving families, in a loader rickshaw to transport these to Chak No 51/2L.

The DC immediately sent a raiding team comprising Tehsildar Asif Javid Virk, revenue officer Usman Ali and Qanoongo Shabbir Ahmad, along with police, to the spot, where they found 100 hampers of the package being unloaded in a room.

The team, with the help of police, nabbed the two co-suspects, while the patwari managed to escape taking advantage of the the darkness.

The FIR says that one of the suspects, Rao Imran, allegedly drew out a weapon and threatened the raiding team’s members before he was disarmed by police and arrested.

On the report of the tehsildar, Sadar police have registered a case against the three suspects under sections 506-B, 409, 186 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 13-2(a) of the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance 2015 and the Punjab Arms Ordinance 20 of 1965.

The patwari, who is still at large, has been suspended from service by Okara Tehsil Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Jutt.

INJURED: Eight persons, including two elderly women, were injured when two groups related to each other, had a fight over a land dispute at Chak No 16-1L on Wednesday.

As per Rescue 1122, the rivals had an old dispute over the possession of agricultural land in the village.

The injured persons, including Jamia Bibi and Tasleem Bibi (both in their 70s), Siddique, Ghulam Mustafa, Aqib, Afzal, Zulifqar and Waqar, were shifted to the Renala THQ Hospital by the Rescue 1122 team.
