PESHAWAR, March 9: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) engineers on Thursday promised to provide maximum facilities to consumers and work for the uplift of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The assurance was given at a general body meeting of the Wapda Engineers Association held here with WEA president Qurban Ali Khan in the chair.

The association members from across the province discussed various problems confronting the Wapda engineers.

The meeting demanded that services of contract engineers should be regularized.

The participants deplored the issuance of ‘unnecessary’ show-cause notice and charge-sheets to Wapda officers and demanded immediate action to curb the practice.

Mr Khan said that engineers’ grievances would be redressed and added that the matter would be taken up soon with the Wapda chairman and the federal minister for water and power.

He stressed the need for holding seminars and workshops on a quarterly basis to help equip engineers with modern-day knowledge.—APP
