PESHAWAR: Chief minister’s adviser for finance Muzzamil Aslam said on Tuesday there was no financial crisis in the province.

He said the federal government was providing its share to the province; however, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also striving to increase the province’s income. He said the centre had been requested to increase the province’s net hydel profit share.

Talking to reporters during his visit to China Window here, Mr Aslam said the notion that KP was burdened with debt was incorrect and that the province’s liabilities were minimal, and all resources would be utilised for repaying them, according to a statement.

Mr Aslam said the government would take all possible steps for the success of the second phase of CPEC. He said CPEC was undoubtedly a plan for the economic development of Pakistan.

“Construction of infrastructure in the first phase of the multibillion dollar project has been completed to a large extent, and now, in the second phase, establishment of industries will provide employment and usher in a new era of economic prosperity,” he said.

The CM’s aide said with the completion of the Suki Kinari hydel power project, the province would start generating another 1,000MW of electricity.

Besides, he said that Pakistan would also earn valuable foreign exchange through exports from special economic zones established in Rashakai and other cities of the province.
