PESHAWAR: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday released Rs348 million as monthly financial assistance for the families displaced by the Operation Zarb-i-Azab in North Waziristan district. Each verified family will receive the amount through SIM messaging within a day or two.

A statement issued by the office of PDMA Director General Qaiser Khan said the financial assistance was being given to more than 17,000 families, who are duly certified by Nadra and registered as temporarily displaced persons (TDPs).

Subia Hussam Toru, PDMA’s director complex emergencies wing for merged tribal districts, said each verified family would receive Rs20,000 cash assistance and ration allowance.

Subia Toru said that more funds would be released before Eidul Fitr to reduce the financial burden on TDPs.
