CHINIOT: A labourer and his son were buried alive when an old well, where they were working collapsed, while another man died after accidentally falling into the same well, at Mouza Suleman in Bhowana tehsil on Saturday night.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, two labourers -- Ramzan (45) and his son Ali (23) were hired to extract bricks from an old well at Mouza Suleman village.

They said the labourers were working inside the well when its wall collapsed, burying both of them alive. Meanwhile, a local, Umer Hayat, who was trying to rescue the labourers, accidentally fell into the well and got critically injured.

On being informed of the incident, a Rescue 1122 team arrived at the scene, and after hours-long efforts retrieved the labourers’ bodies.

The team shifted the injured man to hospital where he also succumbed to his injuries. The bodies were handed over to the family of the deceased labourers.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza, District Emergency Officer Tahira Khan and Assistant Commissioner Tariq Mehmood also visited the site and supervised the rescue operation.
