ISSUES OF LAHORE: The new government in Punjab seems to have a plan, and it is good to see that it is focussing on the right issues. We, the citizens of Lahore, would like the government to address some of the longstanding issues, such as the rising number of beggars, misuse of loudspeakers by mosques, especially during the early hours and late in the night, pressure horns on buses and trucks, noise pollution, and road-side encroachments. As the broken glass theory goes, it is these seemingly insignificant matters that escalate into big governance challenges if not effectively addressed.

NEGLECTED HOUSING SCHEME: The Benazir Bhutto Town, located in Karachi’s Hawksbay area, was envisioned as a model residential project. But it has been plagued by the absence of essential services. While the housing scheme was established years ago, it still lacks basic necessities, such as electricity, water, gas, schools, hospitals, public transport, petrol pumps and markets. It is distressing to see that the residential scheme has failed to fulfil its purpose of providing a comfortable living environment to its residents. The authorities need to address these issues and ensure that the residents of Benazir Bhutto Town are provided with all the utilities they deserve.

WOMEN OUTLAWS: Turbat is witnessing a disturbing trend of crime involving women beggars who exploit their guise of seeking alms to perpetrate violent robberies. These criminals, upon finding homes devoid of male members, resort to injuring women and looting their possessions. Reports of such incidents have become alarmingly frequent, raising concerns among the local residents about their safety and security. These crimes highlight the need for an urgent action from law-enforcement authorities. Community awareness campaigns can empower residents to safeguard their homes against such nefarious activities.
