ISLAMABAD: An additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) on Thursday issued a show cause notice to the superintendent, Adiala jail, for not making arrangements for the attendance of former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse in different cases.

Mr Khan was required to mark his attendance through a video link in five cases related to May 9 violence, while he and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, were required to virtually appear in the case registered with the police station Kohsar for preparing a fake receipt of Toshakhana gifts.

However, when ADSJ Tahir Abbas Sipra resumed the proceeding, he learned that the jail administration had not made the arrangements.

The court was told that the jail administration, due to technical issues, could not make arrangements for the virtual attendance of Mr Khan and his spouse.

Judge Sipra observed that the conduct of the jail administration is tantamount to flouting the court’s direction.

He sought the explanation along with the technical report from the jail administration and also summoned deputy superintendent jail on March 25.
