SHIKARPUR, March 8: A rally was taken out by activists of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Shikarpur chapter, in protest against government’s failure to settle tribal disputes in the district, on Wednesday.

Tribal elders and representatives of social welfare agencies and political parties also participated in the rally. The rally was led by Hameer Chandio, Mumtaz Mangi, Syed Naseem Bukhari and Mohammad Azad Jokhio.

The protesters marched on station road, Hathi Gate Road and Post Office Road and staged demonstrations outside the press club and Lakhi Gate tower chowk. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hameer Chandio, Mohammad Azad Jokhio said that continued tribal feuds had deteriorated the law and order situation in the district.

LIBRARY: MNA Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi visited Qadir Bux Bedil public library here on Wednesday and held a meeting with the readers and the management of the library and listened to their problems.

He assured to make efforts to solve problems and fulfil essential needs including repairs and renovation of the library building, construction of wash rooms, brick-pavements and drainage system and improvement of park of the library. He announced contribution of Rs45,000 from his pocket for repair of rooms and renovation of the library building.

EYE CAMP: A one-day free eye camp was organised by the United Memon Jamat at Haji Moula Bux Memon Achaar Factory, small industrial area, here on Wednesday.

The EDO Revenue, Zahid Hussain Memon inaugurated the camp. Dr Munir Ahmed Soomro, Dr Saeed Ahmed Pathan, Dr Waqar Ali Pathan and other medical staff of Al-Shifa Trust Hospital, Sukkur, operated upon 70 patients free of cost.

LOOTED: Three unidentified bandits looted cash, jewellery and other valuables on gun point from the house of an assistant professor here on Wednesday morning.

Three armed bandits broke into the house of assistant professor of Shah Abdul Latif Com-merce College and took away an amount of Rs366,000 cash, 48 tolas of gold ornaments and a motorcycle.
