RAWALPINDI: One of the suspects was killed while a police official was injured in an exchange of gunfire between robbers and police in the limits of Rawat on Sunday.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred when a police party set out to arrest a proclaimed offender who was wanted in connection with a terrorism case in Rawat area.

On the seeing the police, the criminals opened fire on the raiding party. During the exchange, an assistant sub-inspector Omer was injured and was subsequently shifted to the hospital, while one of the suspects was also killed by the firing of the criminals. The deceased was identified as Ameerzada, who the police said was wanted in a terrorism case and had a history of drug peddling.

After the incident, SP Saddar Division along with a police team reached the spot and a search was conducted to arrest the criminals.

Meanwhile, a mutilated body of a woman was found near Ghiga Gali in Murree on Sunday.

According to emergency services Rescue 1122, a woman’s body whose head, arms and feet were chopped off was found after which the police were informed.

Nothing was found from the body to help the police identify the victim.

City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice of the incident and sought a report from SP Saddar Division. The body was shifted to the hospital while forensic teams were dispatched to the site to collect evidence.

Investigations are being carried out from all angles and all means are being used, including modern technology and human intelligence, to trace the suspect(s).
