HYDERABAD, March 8: Tando Allahyar District Nazim Dr Rahila Magsi has said the prime minister has released Rs85 million for development of the district. Speaking at the monthly meeting of the district council on Tuesday, she said Rs25 million of the amount would be spent on providing electricity and Rs60 million on providing gas facility to different villages.

She asked members of Tando Allahyar, Chambar and Jhando Mari taluka councils to conduct Deh-wise surveys for utilization of the fund.

She said the Sindh government would provide special funds to the district. She said development schemes would also be carried out in the district under the Annual Development Programme and funds provided by the OGDC.

Council convener Sabir Qaimkhani, who presided over the meeting, said the Sindh chief minister had allocated Rs95 million for development of Tando Allahyar which would be equally distributed among the district’s 19 union councils.

He said that of Rs23 million, released by the OGDC, Rs10 million would be spent on purchasing sewing machines, handicraft material and establishing a community centre for welfare of needy women.

The council adopted several resolutions demanding withdrawal of ban on employment to appoint teachers in schools, opening of an agriculture research centre and establishment of offices of the House Building Finance Corporation and the Small Business Finance Corporation.

It also demanded that funds of the new district lying with the Hyderabad district government should be released to it.

ALLEGATIONS: Wapda engineer Liaquat Ali Arain, resident of bungalow number 378-A, Block-B, Latifabad-4, refuted allegations of Hafeez Begum, wife of Malik Abdul Majeed, levelled against him at a press conference on Tuesday. He was speaking at a news conference at the press club on Wednesday.
