KARACHI: Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah visited the Emergency Operations Centre Sindh on Thursday where he was briefed on the current situation regarding poliovirus in the province by provincial coordinator Irshad Ali Sodhar.

The chief secretary appreciated the efforts of Sindh EOC and discussed different aspects of the programme and showed his resolve and commitment to the national cause.

He also discussed the interventions to reach every newborn child with all antigens to ensure universal immunisation coverage.

In his remarks, Mr Shah stated that the reason he was visiting the EOC on the very first day after his appointment was to express his commitment towards the cause of polio eradication.

He expressed concern over the recent spread of positive environmental samples, and advised the EOC Sindh team on the way forward to combat the deadly virus.
