LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered complete mapping of the skill sets required by the local and international labour market to ensure fruitful employment of youth in local as well as foreign market.

Presiding over a meeting on technical education and vocational training in Punjab, she said skill mapping was vital to know the actual potential of human resource for its export.

“We should tap the huge potential in high-end technologies like integrated circuits and microchip design by training our youth in these technologies,” she said, adding that training courses should be designed according to the market demand.

She also ordered preparation of a five-year comprehensive plan to revamp Technical and Vocational Training Authority to impart modern skills to the youth so that they could tap rewarding employment opportunities, not only in the local but in the international labour market as well.

PSCA: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has signed an agreement withthe National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation to implement the ‘smart safe city’ projects in 18 cities of the province.

Under the agreement, environment sensors to monitor the Air Quality Index will also be installed in these 18 cities.
