LAHORE: A man was shot dead by two unknown armed men in Shahdara Town on Wednesday.

Identified as Zafar Iqbal (50), the deceased was complainant in a case lodged against the two ‘unknown masked men’ who had shot and injured her sister a week back.

A police official said that the armed motorcyclists intercepted Zafar when he was going to a market and opened indiscriminate fire, leaving him dead instantly.

He said that apparently it seemed the killers were the ‘shooters’ who might have been hired to give a lesson to the deceased man for pursuing the case he had lodged against the suspects for injuring his sister.

A large number of police men reached the site when they learnt that the relatives of the deceased and other local residents were gathering to lodge a protest against the murder of father of three. The police assured the angry protestors that the alleged killers would soon be arrested.

The body was sent to the city morgue for autopsy.
