RAWALPINDI: The city traffic police has formed a squad to prevent wheelie during Ramazan and set up special pickets on important roads in this regard.

A spokesman for the traffic police said more than 65 personnel have been posted by forming six special squads including seven DSPs and circle officers, six senior traffic wardens, 17 traffic wardens and 25 traffic junior wardens.

The squads will work from 4am to 7am and after Iftar from 7pm to 12 midnight, said the spokesman.

Rawalpindi Traffic Police has been using all resources to protect human lives and prevent wheelie, said the spokesman. Special monitoring is also being done on the mechanics who alter motorcycles for wheelie, Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan said.

Regarding the prevention of wheelie, the district police will get full support at special pickets and important points, said the CTO, adding that effective and comprehensive action will be taken against the violators.

CTO Taimur Khan appealed to the parents to keep a special eye on their children on these special days and avoid giving them a bike or a car at a young age so that they can be saved from accidents.
