PESHAWAR, March 7: The Chehlum of Rehber-i-Tehreek of the Awami National Party Khan Abdul Wali Khan, who died on January 26, was observed here on Tuesday at the Bacha Khan Markaz.

The ceremony was attended by Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan, Begum Nasim Wali Khan, Sangeen Wali Khan, Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Ajmal Khattak, former NWFP chief minister Arbab Muhammad Jehangir Khan, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Azam Khan Swati, Zahid Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Syed Aqil Shah, Mian Iftikhar Shah and provincial senior vice-president of PPP (Sherpao) Ghanidad Khan and ANP members of in the NWFP Assembly. Hundreds of ANP workers also attended the ceremony.

After Khatmul Quran and Fateha Khawani, prayers were offered for the departed soul.

Begum Nasim Wali Khan recited the Holy Quran during the whole session while Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour called upon the audience to recite Kalma Tayyeba and Darood Sharif.

No political speech was made and Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the event should be not turned into a political gathering. He even refused to talk to the media on any issue, saying that he did not come there to discuss politics.
