RAWALPINDI: The runway at Skardu International Airport has been cleared of snow and is now open for use by aircraft.

Spokesman for Civil Aviation said on Tuesday that cleaning of runways of Skardu International Airport has been completed after the latest snowfall and has been made available for flight operation.

He said that unusual snowfall in Skardu had partially affected airport flight operations.

He said that Pakistan International Airlines and Air Blue decided to resume flights to Skardu. The PIA will resume daily flights from Islamabad to Skardu from March 10.

The PIA will also start weekly flights to Skardu from Karachi and Lahore from the first week of April, while the

Air Blue will start its operations from Islamabad to Skardu in the first week of April Initially, Air Blue will operate four flights a week from Islamabad to Skardu, said the spokesman.

The CAA said that flight operations to Gwadar airport have also been restored after the recent heavy rains.
