TOBA TEK SINGH: Pirmahal police on Monday registered a case against its three officials on the charge of torturing to death a robbery suspect about whom police had claimed on Sunday that he died by suicide in lock-up after repeatedly hitting his head against iron bars.

Complainant Kausar Parveen of Mauza Rampur claimed in her first information report registered under sections 302, 109, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code that her son Muhammad Bilal was arrested by Pirmahal City police post incharge sub-inspector Muhammad Afzal, ASI Sarfraz and constable Awais as a robbery case suspect.

She alleged that Bilal was tortured to death at the behest of his son’s opponent Muhammad Ali Hiraj.

The DPO has suspended them from service and raids are underway to arrest them.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died and his pillion rider injured critically after they were run over by a tractor-trolley near Chak 237 GB located on Jaranwala-Nankana Sahib Road, Faisalabad, on Monday.

Rescue 1122 said Dr Imran (30) posted as medical officer in Punjab constabulary dispensary was on his way along with Imran (35) when their bike collided head-on with a car as a result both fell on the road and a tractor-trolley ran over them. Adnan died instantly while Imran was shifted to Jaranwala THQ hospital.

CELEBRATORY FIRE: A child was critically wounded when a bullet hit him in jubilation firing at a wedding function on Monday in Jaranwala tehsil’s Chak 70 GB.

According to FIR registered by Jaranwala Saddar police under sections 324, 337, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 of The Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016, complainant Akhtar Waheed said his nephew Asadullah (10) was passing through a street when groom Mudassar and his four relatives were resorting to aerial firing and a bullet hit his abdomen as a result he was seriously injured and was shifted to Faisalabad DHQ hospital.

When contacted, a City police spokesperson claimed that three of the suspects had been arrested and weapons used for firing were also recovered.

SUSPENDED: A police constable was suspended by Faisalabad Lyallpur Town SP Rana Rehman Qadir over violation of ban imposed by IG on making videos viral on social media.

A City police spokesperson said Bahawal Sher had made his video brandishing the official weapon and posted it on social media.
