KARACHI: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Tuesday demanded that the Chief Justice of Pakistan take notice of the ‘systematic rigging’ in the February 8 general elections and ensure rectification as per Form 45s.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s Idara-i-Noor-i-Haq headquarters, JI-Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed serious concerns over the ‘democratic future’ of Pakistan and strongly condemned ‘the rigged elections.’

He said that the JI was going to stage a rally on Feb 24 against the election rigging.

“We demand the judiciary to hold forensic audit of the polls in Karachi in order to reveal the truth,” he said, adding: “Those responsible for these fraud elections must be identified, prosecuted and convicted.”

Hafiz Naeem also raised the issue of intermediate results and demanded the authorities to take solid action against those responsible for changing the results. He said some grace marks would not compensate the loss of thousands of students.
