TOBA TEK SINGH: Former Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and PML-N leader Raja Riaz has raised serious allegations of corruption against former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaqat Chattha.

Speaking to the reporters in Faisalabad on Tuesday, he said the bureaucrat had spent 20 years in Faisalabad on different posts and he was notorious for his corruption. He said Chattha had got important postings by giving bribe to former chief minister Usman Buzdar and he had bought a costly apartment in the US with the money earned through corruption as the commissioner.

The PML-N leader demanded the caretaker interior minister to put Chattha’s name on the exit control list (ECL) as he might attempt to run away to the US.

About the election, Raja Riaz said the people did not vote for the PTI-backed candidates in the Feb 8 election but they actually voted against the hike in prices of flour, petrol, electricity and gas. He said he and his son Raja Danyal, who faced defeat on the PML-N ticket in a National Assembly constituency, would continue future politics from the platform of the PML-N.

Says ex-officer was notorious for bribe in his 20 years in Faisalabad

Commenting on Ali Amin Gandapur as the proposed chief minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Riaz said the PTI leader’s name was second after Imran Khan in the May 9 attacks.

PROTEST: Scores of villagers staged a protest demonstration in front of the Faisalabad District Council Complex against the Garh Police Station for allegedly setting free a suspect they had caught during a theft bid.

They told the reporters that during a theft bid at a village house, they had caught one of the thieves who was handed over to the Garh police but the police released him a day later instead of booking him in a theft case and arresting his accomplices.

They demanded the CPO office to take action against the Garh police stationhouse officer (SHO) and order rearrest of the thief.

HOUSING SCHEMES: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) demolished illegal constructions in three private housing schemes during a crackdown on illegal housing societies in Faisalabad.

An official said an FDA team, led by Deputy Director Enforcement Imtiaz Ali Goraya, checked the legality of the housing schemes being established in different areas and found three of them on the Satiana Road as unapproved.

He said the schemes, named Prime Campus, Paramount City and Tech Residencia, were sealed and their structures and boundary walls were demolished.
