PPHI Sindh’s rehabilitation work

People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) Sindh organised an inauguration ceremony of the rehabilitation work of the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) Block, coupled with the launch of C-Section services at Government Hospital Murad Memon, Malir Karachi, as per a press release.

Additionally, the distribution of 17 ambulances to various districts was also held, further enhancing emergency healthcare services in the region.

This event marks a significant milestone in PPHI Sindh’s ongoing efforts to enhance maternal and child healthcare services across the province. The refurbishment of the MNCH Block and the implementation of C-Section services will significantly enhance healthcare provisions for mothers and children in the area, guaranteeing access to high-quality medical facilities.

TDAP’s marine workshop

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), in collaboration with the Fisheries Development Board and Marine Fisheries Department, convened a series of consultative workshops last week aimed at charting actionable strategies to elevate Pakis­tan’s aquaculture sector towards sustainable growth, as per a press release.

The revised Rules of the Pakistan Fish Inspection and Quality Control Act 1997, coupled with the formulation of the National Residue Control Plan (NRCP), underscore Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the quality and safety of aquaculture-based exports.

Aquaculture, the cultivation of aquatic organisms, stands as a pivotal avenue for economic advancement in Pakistan, leveraging the nation’s extensive coastline and abundant freshwater resources. With a strategic focus on fostering collaboration and driving innovation, TDAP orchestrated discussions centered on the National Residue Control Plan and holistic aquaculture strategies.

Deans and Directors Conference 2024

The 11th Deans and Directors Conference 2024 on ‘Navigating Disruption and Innovation in Business Education’ took place at the Pearl Continental Hotel. Hosted by the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC-HEC), this prestigious event brought together, as per a press release.

Vice Chancellors, Deans, Directors, thought leaders, educators, and industry experts from across the country to deliberate on the future of business education amidst rapid technological advancements and evolving industry landscapes.

In his opening remarks, Executive Director IBA, Dr S Akbar Zaidi stated that the IBA is delighted to be the exclusive partner for this esteemed conference and welcomed all local and international delegates. Emphasising that access to quality education is the right of every Pakistani citizen, Dr Zaidi stated that we need to improve the quality of higher education in Pakistan to make a significant stride towards adequately educating our population.

SFA trains food handlers

Director General Sindh Food Authority (SFA) Agha Fakhar Hussain has said that the authority is providing training to food handlers/staff of small restaurants to five star hotels on food safety hygiene. It is gradually bringing all food items business under Sindh Food Authority’s jurisdiction, as per a press release. He said this while distributing certificates to the staff members of Movenpick Hotel after their training session. “In the first phase, SFA is providing training to the food handlers and in the next phase, SFA is going to run a self-assessment programme,” he added.

KE’s KHI Awards

The third edition of K-Electric’s KHI Awards — a platform that honours the unwavering resilience of welfare organisations at the forefront of supporting the megacity — closed its call for applications with over 150 entries, as per a press release.

Since 2020, Pakistan and Karachi have met with consecutive challenges, including Covid-19 and floods. Currently, inflation and volatile economic circumstances are also bringing on donor fatigue. Amid such circumstances, Karachi’s resilience shows in the efforts of individuals and organisations working to uplift those in need.

KE has been supporting these organisations through the KHI Awards since 2021, with 74 organisations positively impacting the lives of more than 17 million people thus far across multiple categories. With more than 150 submitted entries, this positive response to the third edition is a testament to the credibility of the platform which also serves as a reminder to extend our generosity during strenuous and stressful economic periods.

The received entries will undergo a rigorous evaluation process by an expert jury of industry and community leaders.
