MUZAFFARABAD, March, 3: Former deputy chief organizer of the PPP, AJK, Shaukat Javed Mir, has condemned what he called media trial of the party chairperson Benazir Bhutto initiated at the behest of the government, and termed it an attempt against national consensus and political stability in the country.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he alleged that the rulers were creating a war-like situation in the country by dividing the people.

He rejected reports of confiscation of Ms Bhutto’s property in Spain, saying it was propaganda of the National Accountability Bureau to weaken the People’s Party.

He said that the NAB should be dissolved and a free and transparent process of accountability initiated under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge.

He said that there should be accountability of the rulers ‘involved in looting the country.’

Mr Mir said that peace in the region was linked to safe and unconditional return of Ms Bhutto. —-PPI
