SHEIKHUPURA, March 3: Four members of a family, including a youth and three women, were killed while seven others sustained injuries, three of them serious, in an accident near Kot Pindi Das, some 17 kilometres away from here, on Friday.
According to Motorway SSP Syed Ijaz Shah, the family of Col Arshad Mahmood was going to Sargodha from Lahore by a car (LRU-7969). As soon as the car, driven by Zaheer, the son of Col Arshad, reached near 31 emergency booth, the visibility became poor due to thick fog which engulfed the area at that time, he added.
A speeding bus hit the rear side of the car. In the meantime another passenger vehicle hit the bus as a result of which Zaheer, his mother Kishwar, two sisters Shazia and Fozia, were killed instantly, the SSP said.
Seven passengers travelling in the two vehicles which collided suffered injuries. The injured have been identified as Sarwar, Rafiqa Bibi, Usman, Ishtiaq, Humayun, Bilal and Rahat Bibi. They were removed to the Sheikhupura DHQ hospital.
The bodies were handed over to the family without autopsy.
Col Arshad belongs to Chak 186 Chak Jhumra in Faisalabad district.
Factory Area police are investigating.
CRUSHED: A child was crushed by his father’s wagon in Lubanwala village in the jurisdiction of Ferozewala police station on Friday.
Ali Haider was reportedly reversing the wagon while his son Ahmad Ali, 3, was playing behind it. He could not see his son as a result of which he was crushed.
