LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-backed independent candidate Ameer Muhammad Khan, who won from PP-89, Bhakkar, has joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Mr Khan called on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and party’s women wing president Faryal Talpur in Islamabad and announced joining the party, reveals a post by the PPP media cell on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

It says that PPP ticket-holder Amjad Kharo, Shahid Hasan Khan and Chaudhry Hayat Muhamood were also present on the occasion.

Former prime minister Imran Khan’s PTI continues to suffer setback after setback as more and more independent candidates who won with its support in the Feb 8 vote are joining other parliamentary parties, particularly the PML-N.

Three PTI-backed winners of PA seats and one NA seat have earlier joined the PML-N, which has increased its tally in the Punjab Assembly to 150 and in the National Assembly to 80.

Three other independent MPAs-elect, Awais Dreshik, Zahid Ismail Bhutta and Hafiz Tahir Qaisrani, have joined the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP).
