SWABI: Parmuli police station SHO Fawad Khan was seriously injured when he tried to prevent fire between two groups in Razaar tehsil here on Monday, officials said.

They said firing erupted between members of Asad Khan group of Sheikh Jana and Wazir Khan of Parmuli village over an old enmity.

The officials said on receiving news of the firing, SHO Parmuli police station Fawad Khan along with a party reached the scene and attempted to stop the rivals from firing. They said a bullet hit the police officer’s head, leaving him seriously injured.

He was immediately taken to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor, where doctors said his condition was critical.

Soon afterwards, a police team conducted a search operation in the area to arrest the culprits, but no arrests were made till filing of this report at 7.25pm.

Meanwhile, the police solved the murder case of a doctor by arresting his wife and a nephew, officials said on Monday.

They said the deceased, dentist Yasir Shah, hailing from Gabasni village of Gadoon Amazai, was killed a few days ago, and his wife had registered an FIR in Utla police station, claiming her husband was killed when unidentified assailants attacked him at night.

They said taking notice of the incident, district police officer Haroon Rashid Khan assigned the task of bringing out the facts and tracing the accused to SP investigations Swabi Khankhel Khan.

They said a team led by SHO Topi Niaz Ali Khan arrested the woman and her acquaintance on suspicion during the investigation of the case.

The officials said the two confessed to the crime. They quoted the woman as saying she killed her husband to marry his nephew.
