ISLAMABAD, March 2: Right arm medium fast Maryam Hassan engineered Islamabad’s massive 124-run victory over Rawalpindi on Thursday snapping up four for 12 in the opening match of the second National women’s cricket championship.

In what was the first ever women’s game between the two cities, Islamabad sent their opponents crashing to 71 all out in only 20 overs at the Rawalpindi Stadium.

After Islamabad had posted 195-9 in 40 overs, Maryam played havoc with the ball and bowled six overs of which one was maiden. Also doing well was Saher Hayat who picked up three wickets for 22 off five overs.

Six of the Rawalpindi batswomen fell for nought, four of them at the top of the order. Only Sara Mehmood with an unbeaten 24 reached double figures.
