KARACHI, March 1: A late four-goal burst and a weak Pakistani defence propelled UAE to a 4-1 victory over hosts in the Asian Cup soccer qualifiers at People’s Sports Complex on Wednesday.

After holding 0-0 in the first half, Pakistan were delighted when Mohammad Essa stunner beat UAE goalkeeper Waleed Al Badrani in the 60th minute to give the hosts a shock lead.

The visitors took just eight minutes to pull the leveller through a Mohamed Al-Balooshi header. The goal opened the floodgates as UAE pumped in three more within 20 minutes to walk away deserved victors.

It was a brilliant move near the box which ended on a Ismaeli Aljunaibi goal in the 77th minute, while Salem Alabadla almost walked the ball into the net in the 82nd minute when he caught the defenders napping.

Saeed Alkas completed the tally with a header after being assisted by Humaid Majeed a minute before fulltime.
