SARGODHA, March 1: Mob attacked Kotmomen police station on Wednesday besides injuring a DSP and two other policemen while protesting against the killing of a taxi driver.

The protest call was given by Kotmomen Anjuman Tajran chief Masood Sheikh against the murder of taxi Driver Mehfooz Elahi by unknown killers. The protest was also against police’s failure to arrest the murderers despite the passage of a week.

The protesters, including members of traders’ bodies, raised slogans against police and blocked the Motorway at Kotmomen interchange for about an hour.

Police baton charged the protesters and fired tear gas to disperse them. Some of the protesters attacked Kotmomen police station and pelted it with stones, injuring DSP Ishtiaq Hussain along with two police constables. Some protesters were also injured in the baton charge.

Meanwhile, a complete strike was observed at Kotmomen against the murder.

However, the police restored vehicular traffic on the Motorway after hour-long skirmishes with the protesters.
