MARDAN: Mardan division commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai inaugurated a modern bus terminal in Chamtar area during a ceremony here on Friday.

Covering an area of 734 kanals, this spacious bus terminal would provide modern facilities to transporters and passengers.

A team of Rescue 1122, while briefing the commissioner, said that the new bus terminal had been completed at a cost of Rs23.8 million. They said the terminal included parking area for 20 large vehicles, 20 ticketing offices, spacious waiting areas for women and men, separate latrines for sexes, driver’s quarters, dining halls and two vehicle washing areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yousafzai said the new bus terminal built on 734 kanals of land would help reduce the increasing traffic pressure on Mardan city and provide better services to passengers.

He said all the necessary facilities would be provided to the transporters moving to the new bus terminal. He said shifting of bus terminals from the city to the new area had been completed.

Mr Yousafzai directed the deputy commissioner and TMA staff to resolve the problems of transporters, shifting to the new bus terminal.
