KARACHI, March 1: Transporters on Wednesday deferred their call for a strike on Thursday (March 2) but announced that they would join in the March 3 strike to express solidarity with Ummah on the issue of the blasphemous cartoons published by the western press.

Chief of the Karachi Transport Ittehad Irshad Bokhari told Dawn that the KTI had earlier announced a strike for Thursday against the increase in petroleum prices, but after a meeting, it decided to postpone the same for the time being.

He said that the KTI, however, would take part in the world-wide protest on March 3.
