LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau recovered Rs2.26 billion in the Pak-Arab Housing scam which will soon be distributed among 2,300 affectees.
This was stated by NAB Lahore Director General Amjad Majeed Aulakh while talking to the affectees in a monthly open court proceedings held here on Saturday.
The claimants include Pak-Arab Housing Society, Palm Vista Housing Society, Al-Rehman Garden (Phase-IV), Lahore Garden, Elite Town Housing Society, Ashrafi Town, Wapda Town Cooperative Housing Society, Kasur, and affectees of SB Mall, Faisalabad.
The DG said the bureau recovered Rs2.26bn from the Pak-Arab Housing Society administration which would be returned to the affectees.
The affectees of Palm Vista informed the DG that they were tricked by luring to purchase membership forms at exorbitant rates, however, the Palm-Vista administration had also cheated the general public in another project named Palm Villas.
The DG said a swift scrutiny process was underway over the claims filed by the affectees that would lead to the cognisance once scrutiny process concluded. He also directed to expedite the working against Al-Rehman Garden (Phase-IV) administration although, the NAB was prioritising to facilitate affectees in this scam.
The claimants of Ashrafi Town complained of alleged harassment and sale of bogus files by the society administration. They also pointed out the active role of dealers (brokers) in hoodwinking the general public.
The affectees of the Elite Town scam were informed that a trial was underway over the reference filed by the NAB in this scam.
A large number of affectees of SB Mall, Faisalabad, while submitting their claims before the DG requested for redressal of their losses.
