The returning officer for PK-91, Kohat, has postponed the elections on the seat after the sudden death of Awami National Party candidate Asmatullah Khattak on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here, RO Mr Irfan said after the death certificate of the candidate was produced to him, he, using powers conferred on him under the Election Act, 2017, postponed the polls on the seat with immediate effect.

He said the new election schedule would be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

According to the ANP district president, Mr Khattak passed away due to heart attack, leaving behind a void in the political landscape of the region.
