DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central information secretary and candidate for NA-44 Faisal Karim Kundi has said that if voted to power, his party would increase the number of beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

He was addressing a reception arranged by Peoples Lawyers Forum at the district bar. The event was attended by a large number of lawyers including the representatives of high court bar association and district bar association.

Mr Kundi showed optimism that people would vote PPP to power in the 2024 general elections. He said that during last 15-month government, PPP increased the number of BISP beneficiaries from 100,000 to 200,000 in Dera Ismail Khan. Besides, the stipend was also increased from Rs7,000 to Rs9,000 for each beneficiary of the programme, he added.

He said that Rs25,000 was given to each BISP card-holder in the flood-affected areas of the district. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while announcing party’s manifesto promised to increase the number of beneficiaries and stipend of BISP, he added.

Mr Kundi claimed that PPP was the only party with a plan to combat poverty, unemployment and inflation. He said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was the only leader, who was running election campaign on the basis of PPP manifesto and public service.

He said that lawyers always played an important role for the rule of law in the country and PPP included lawyers in the process of legislation by giving them important portfolios of Senate chairman and governor in two provinces.

Mr Kundi hoped that PPP would win the upcoming general elections with thumping majority. Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Sardar Hashmat Nawaz Sadozai, former president of district bar and PPP candidate for PK-114 Qaizar Khan Miankhel, PPP candidate for PK-113 Azizullah Khan Alizai and district bar general secretary Adnan Saeed Sadozai, PPP district president Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap were also present on the occasion.
