Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Rafah in southern Gaza, says there is a great deal of anticipation for the ICJ’s ruling despite a days-long communication blackout.
“It’s not a surprise Palestinians in Gaza, given the ongoing situation, know a lot about the mechanism at the UN and international organisations and agencies,” he says.
“They know they can make binding decisions, but they don’t have the power to implement them,” Mahmoud added.
