World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said one patient was killed while 45 others, including 15 critically wounded patients, were evacuated from a UN shelter in Khan Younis.

“In an extremely difficult mission to the UNRWA training centre in Khan Younis, Gaza, that was hit yesterday, a WHO team helped evacuate 45 patients to Al-Najjar Hospital, 15 of whom were in critical conditions. One patient tragically died en route,” he wrote in a post on X.

The intensity of fighting had increased and the team did not manage to evacuate all of the injured, the WHO chief said.

“We urge the protection of all civilians, humanitarians and health workers. We appeal for an immediate ceasefire,” he added.
