ISLAMABAD, Feb 27: Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority Altaf Saleem said on Monday the process of opening bank accounts needed to be expedited for disbursement of cash grants to the earthquake-affected people.

He was presiding over the 2nd ERRA board meeting here on Monday.

The members apprised the ERRA board about practical difficulties faced by the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the NWFP to carry out reconstruction plans. It was also decided that provinces would establish their own grievance cells to address the complaints of the earthquake-affected people in their respective areas.

The ERRA board also reviewed the establishment of reconstruction material hubs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the NWFP to ensure the provision of raw material at controlled prices.

During the meeting, it was also noted that the weather had turned pleasant and was conducive for starting the reconstruction process in the earthquake-affected areas.—APP
