Justice is blind

Published January 21, 2024

THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Malice towards none’ (Jan 16). In the present political scenario, the court verdicts are always taken as either ‘against’ or ‘in favour’ of this political party or that. Unfortunately, all decisions made against the aggrieved party mentioned in the said letter are called ‘malicious’ and the court and the judges have to face vicious smear campaigns on social media by party workers and affiliated lawyers.

If the party was “extremely slipshod and negligent”, as the letter itself stated, why then blame the decision? Would it not be reliving the infamous doctrine of necessity? As for what the party is facing, it is the consequence of its own follies, and was not relevant and binding in the case heard by the Supreme Court as justice happens to be blind. And this is universal, not confined to Pakistan alone.

Most leaders have left the party after having buckled under pressure, and the resulting vacuum has been filled by too many lawyers who appear to be taking advantage of the situation. They seem to be lacking political insight and are spoiling the broth for the party itself. This is what is happening on the ground.
