Golf : Ogilvy, Love in final

Published February 27, 2006

CARLSBAD (California), Feb 26: Australian Geoff Ogilvy and US veteran Davis Love set up a final showdown in the 7.5 million-dollar Match Play Championship on Saturday.

Love, the 23rd seed, earned a spot in the 36-hole final when he cruised to an easy 4 and 2 semi-final victory over compatriot Zach Johnson.

In the other semi-final, 52nd seed Ogilvy was too good for US Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman, taking a huge lead at the turn before winning 4 and 3.

It was the first time in five matches this week that Ogilvy didn’t need extra holes to win.

Ogilvy saved his best golf for his semi-final.
