RAHIM YAR KHAN, Feb 26: Bar and bench have a deep relationship and both should work for providing expeditious justice to people. This was said by Lahore High Court judge Justice Akhter Shabbir while speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of RY Khan district bar association office-bearers here on Sunday.

He said lawyers were an important part of society and they should play their vital role in administration of justice to people.

DBA president Khalid Hashmat informed Justice Akhter Shabbir about problems of the bar. The LHC judge assured him that he would help fill three vacancies of additional district and sessions judges and five civil judges for the establishment of drug courts and banking courts.

Justice Akhter Shabbir announced a grant of Rs300,000 for district bar which would be provided in two weeks.
